Packers say they won't renew season ticket holders who consistently resell their tickets. Apparently, there are season ticket holders who sell all of their tickets to make a profit and don't attend any of the games.

I wonder if some of that goes on in Seattle as well. People should not be allowed to buy season tickets solely for the purpose of making a profit. Fans who want to go to the game should have priority, rather than opposing fans willing to pay the mark-up for scalped tickets.

This happens with every team and it's annoying as hell. They need to set a threshold of minimum attendance by the named ticket holders (verify identity upon stadium entry). I would say more than 50% required, so 9 games in a regular season.

Wait, half the games are away. Wouldn't 9 games be 100%?

I hate the pack, but this is an awesome idea.

Should be league wide.

You're not a mini-tickemaster. You're a season ticket holder.

I wonder if they can do this solely because the fans are the owners basically.

Personally, I don’t agree with not letting people resell. Let people do what they want.

No individual is greater than the team.

I understand your point, but it used to be illegal to scalp tickets. The problem with allowing resales is that it raises the cost of attending games. Why should a season ticket holder be able to make a profit and make it more expensive for someone who actually wants to go to the game when they're not the ones paying players or dealing with the stadium? If you take it to the logical next step, only professional ticket brokers will own season tickets and the regular fans will be SOL.

When you put it like that it makes sense to me. I collect football cards and watching “breakers” on stream has jacked up the price completely for actual card collectors. They control the market.

I hadn’t looked at it that way. Thank you.

I wonder how many season tickets around the league are fronts and/or straw buyers for Ticketmaster and the other services. I know the radio/TV stations around the area buy tickets to use in promotions. That's OK, really, because the winners of the contests are at least real fans, or at least it looks that way.

Of course there are people who just get season tickets to profit. I hope more teams follow suit. Home field advantage should mean something.
