It depends on who is calling the shots. In the JS/Pete days, yes, this would be some lame smokescreen that is saw through from 12 miles away.

However with the JS/MM package, it will be fun to see if this turns into a sign of how things will play out in the draft.

Is it more boring/dry drama or are we getting a vision on how the next few years will be?

Drafting the exact NT MM wants for his system would be fine by me, maybe even needed.

For all the alleged defensive geniusness hired by this organization, our defensive drafting since the LOB days has been pretty underwhelming. Witherspoon looks good, but that's a top 5 pick, so hard to credit them TOO much for that. Woolen was a hit in the fifth, but he may have peaked as a rookie and it's unclear whether he's even considered a foundation piece anymore. Otherwise, it's mostly just some guys who look OK with maybe a ceiling of a fringe top-20 at their position (Mafe, Hall, Bryant, Knight, Griffin) among a lot of bad picks (Brooks, Bustron, Taylor, Collier, Blair, Barton, Amadi, Green, Flowers, Hill, Thompson, etc).

We all don't know just how bad Cameron young's knee injury is and what his prognosis is going forward . However it's apparently clear the team does and doesn't want to keep him around any longer. There were a few plays where he flashed some talent but then he was just another hurt player unable to play.

The DL is just not in a good position. Big Cat, Lawrence, and Reed are all 30+. Mafe and Hall are streaky. Nwosu seems to be done. And there's nobody behind any of those guys except Murphy.

DL is a priority.
