The links should all work now. They should get you started. There should be plenty of info now on what you're trying to do. The forum is really good about finding people to answer any questions you might have.

I use a great free program called the Gimp and have recommended it to many others over the years. Tutorials are available for The Gimp on the net and fairly easy to find. I have provided links to a few sites that have tutorials below. It is definitely HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for you to try to find one appropriate to what you are trying to do.

  • The Gimp is a very good Photoshop alternative. I have a question, though; is there a good alternative for professional video editing software? (like Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas Pro, etc.)

  • I found GIMP about a year ago and love it. The interface and layering takes a little getting used to but for the low low price of $free.95 it's great!

I've used The GIMP for a few things (like editing electronic signatures) for years, and it's a good program.

However, due to The GIMP's less-approachable UI, I've recently started to use Paint.NET more and more for simple image editing tasks. I still use both, but found it easier to teach less-tech (Windows) users to do simple tasks using Paint.NET.

FYI, The GIMP also works on Linux, while Paint.NET is Windows-only.

    More about Paint.NET here:
