This is great news...helps the run D as well as the edge rushers!!!

Why is he signed to the practice squad? Is that the norm in these abnormal times?

To get him into game shape would be my guess.

Yes!!!!
So, after the Bye: Adams, Dunbar, Snacks and possibly Brooks?
Hell yes. That absolutely will make the Defense better.

It will likely take a few weeks to get him ready to go. They had 2 spots open on the PS, so this way he doesn't EAT (see what I did there?) up a spot on the 53 until he is ready. Good roster management.

Assume he'll be one of the "protected" PS squad players then?

Yep, he would have to be. He might only be on the PS this week.

This is great news! It fills a major need on our DT rotation.

This may even spark us getting more interior pressure with Reed, Ford, Mone, Rush and Snacks all more rested thru-out the game. Major addition! :irishdrinkers:

I think FlyingGreg has this one nailed. Roster management. They may also sign another one at CB or LB. It'll take awhile to get everything sorted out.
One item regarding Snacks that caught my eye is he has shed about 20 lbs, so I take that as a sign he might be in better condition than some here suspect.
There is some satisfaction in that he signed with Seahawks despite the GB push.

Doesn't always happen, but often when guys slim down a touch they get quicker.

Per Field Gulls:
"However, the fact that he’s on the practice squad also means that he is free to negotiate with other teams at least through this week since the deadline for practice squad protections have closed for Week 5."

Good info HawkerD. I didn't know PS players could be snatched. Just assumed being on practice squad protected them. Thanks for that comment.

Why would he sign just to keep negotiating with other teams for this week? He could just as easily made his trip to GB and make a final decision at that point. I doubt any other teams are in the mix with his preference to play only for a winning team. I'm pretty sure he made the final decision to play for the Hawks.

Also losing 20 pounds is huge for a man his size!

Apparently he has to pass five straight days of covid tests before he can be added to the active roster.

So I assume he was signed to the practice squad until after he's cleared. Which he probably isn't ready to play in games anyway until after the bye, so not a bad thing. Hasn't played in what, 9-10 months? You don't want to run him out there Sunday anyway.

Great news considering our depth at DT.

Any team in the league could have had him any time in the last 6 months, so I wouldn't worry about him getting signed away unless someone loses a starter.

Why is he signed to the PS? Who knows? However, he is.

Likely b/c he wants to be here, and because he was asked to, or perhaps hasn't finalized his deal with the team, or they are waiting on a 53 man cut which they will need to do to add him to the active roster.

This is a positive for the DLine and will make the team stronger inside and give them a big body to push the pocket and spell Reed and Ford.

To be honest, he's been on the market for weeks now. If he thought he could get a better offer he would have kept his options open. It doesn't sound to me like there was a ton of interest in him. We'll see.
