So it seemed like the whole game plan today was weird

No up tempo till almost the end, few crossing routes, few check downs, few screens, few scheming to get guys open, almost no adjustments to the blitz. etc etc.

It almost like they had no game plan at all.

Best offesne in the league and here you are questioning the game plan. You said it yourself despite the 4 turnovers Russ and the offense are off the hook with this lost.

I don't think we ran a hb screen until the 4th quarter, despite heavy blitzing. The one we ran got like 40 yards

Falling behind by 2 touches probably did not factor into the pre-game game plan.

Yes, this is what was striking. AZ showed that we are vulnerable to the type of blitzing they do, that it confounds our blocking schemes and messes with Russell, leading to sacks and hurries. Yet Schotty doesn't come in with a plan for more teams doing that. Run more screens, shorter routes, shovel passes, ANYTHING!! Come on Schotty! You got out-coached again.

Also, the predictable play-calling on 3rd and 4th down plays, Buffalo consistently blew those up with blitzes that defeated our blocking schemes and put Russell under immediate pressure. We were SO PREDICTABLE!!

Yeah why all of a sudden back to waiting till the play clock is out to snap it. Makes us to predictable. Just seems like a half step back to the same old same old.

Well hell, if you have mega success with a play, why would you keep doing it, eh Bri? :curious:

They had no plan, only scored 34 points, they should have had 85 with a game plan, they are total failures regardless they had 4 turnovers, should have just scored more and made Buffalo keep kicking it to them till they accomplished their goals.

I THINK you are being sarcastic, but not really unpacking all the pieces.

The offense gifted Buffalo points that were more than the margin of victory, via turnovers. The turnovers, IMO, largely reflected a failure or refusal of Schotty (and Russell) to adjust. Could also involved repeated execution errors and failures on the part of the players, with Schotty/Russell continuing to hope, despite evidence, that they could fix the execution issues within the game, and simply failing to get things fixed, and before long, it was too late to make a difference.

The Bills secondary is good, but we tried to win in a shootout. DK and Lockett were covered well. The TEs need to be involved more in the passing game.

Bills run defense isn't as good, but we didn't have Carson and Hyde.

Wilson "cooked" with 41 passes and posted a season-high 390 yards, but we still lost.

So we must have a balanced approach, not only so Russ doesn't get killed out there, but also so the defense is not on the field giving up touchdowns on every drive.

Can Wilson win in a shootout against Goff? Yes, but the Rams defense is much better than ours. If our starting RBs are not back, and Shaquill is still sidelined, expect another long day.
