The OP is partly correct. There's no shame in losing to a better team, and the Rams were clearly the better team today. But there is shame when your team comes out with no intensity, no passion, no heart, no will to win..... in a damn playoff game! With a few exceptions, the Hawks players looked like they were just going through the motions. That's the most frustrating and embarrassing thing for me about todays game.
The Rams completely dominated the LOS on both sides of the ball. I know the Rams DL can be dominant at times, but this was the worst performance of the year from our OL. And we had all our starters today. And defensively, we never came close to slowing down the Rams running game, even when we knew going in that they were going to lean on that because of their QB situation. Everyone knew it!
Russ, the offensive and defensive lines, the coaching staff...... it was just a very poor effort from the Hawks in all phases of the game, and there's enough blame to go around. But bottom line, the Rams came out and took the game to us from the get go. They were passionate, they were intense, they played every play like it was their last. We never came close to matching their intensity, and as a result, we got run over on both sides of the ball.
So yes, in this instance, there is absolutely shame in losing. It was a pathetic effort by everyone involved on the Hawks side of the ball and I'm embarrassed for them.
