The Raiders will release Incognito, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The move will take Incognito’s $5.475 million cap hit off the Raiders’ salary cap. He will have no dead cap hit.

Incognito had season-ending ankle injury last year but is now running again.

...Compared to Iupati, Incognito has been a grader. And until last year managed to mostly stay on the field. He also became a leader on the Raiders, a transformation even greater than Sherman's.

He's 37 but I still think he has a year, and because he is 37 maybe not many takers. Get this guy on the minimum to mentor and train whatever the rest of the post Iupati future is.

Oh that would go over well here in Seattle.

Why? The 2013 bullying scandal against Jonathan Martin? Martin ended up arrested for posting guns on IG, one with Incognito's name on it. Incognito went to court after all that to testify in Martin's favor so that Martin wouldn't get prison time.

Incognito had two years in the Bay/Vegas to implode. He was promoted to captain. He hasn't been an issue.

The thing that is, is his age and injury history. But if he passes waivers the Raiders might bring him back. It's just a question of skill v injury in their minds and should be for everyone else.

Yeah, but if we sign Incognito and he plays slightly above average, half the fan-base will turn on Pete Carroll. They will turn on him for not completely reinventing how football is played in order to better include Incognito in the game-planning and personnel decisions for our offense.

From this day forward, we literally need to be mindful of the Russel Wilson effect and any desires to become some sort of chef. The culture our team and the hopes of our children depend upon such mindfulness.

All due respect, Birds, but I doubt the fanbase would hate Pete, or Russ, for signing him.

We don't have a left guard. We need one. His age/injury is now the biggest issue as opposed to concerns that he'd be a LR cancer or anything like that.

The Raiders' fanbase is saying if he passes waivers they'll all want him back, just not for 5.5M. Which is fair but his value is about 2-3M. Which for him is a decent value given his longevity in the league.

Bring him in to compete at camp.
