The preseason will be reduced from four games to three to maintain compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, which limits the total number of preseason and regular-season games played to 20.

There will remain one bye week per team. The season will begin on Thursday night, Sept. 9 and will end on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022. The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and the Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles has been pushed back one week, from Feb. 6 to 13, 2022.

Did any player or fan want another game?

I feel like this was rammed down everyone's throats by the owners, when most fans and players either don't care, or didn't want another game.

I have no complaints.

We know that talks about a 17 game schedule have been going on for some time. We also know that the owners and player's union and the entertainment distribution industry all had discussions as to what needed to happen.

Guess all the things that needed to happen were satisfied.

This is the lessor of two evils. Players can get hurt in Preseason or Regular season. I want to see real fans in the stands.

The players voted to allow it. They shouldn't be whining all of a sudden because they got an increase in their share of the total revenue. That's what they agreed to.

It's silly for the players to want to drop OTAs and training camps. Didn't they see all the soft tissue injuries that happened last year? If they don't practice hitting in a game setting, they're going to get blown up, and lose a year or 2 off their career from their bodies not being in shape.

17 regular season and 3 pre-season.
SuperbOwl moved to a week later. But if it falls on President's Day, many of us will get that day off we want and/or take anyway.

The 3rd preseason game was a lot like a regular season game, so not a big deal. It just means no more 8-8 seasons for any team.

How can it fall on Presidents day if thats a Monday Holiday?

Get rid of Thursday games then. Players hate those games. They barley have enough time to recover from their Sunday games. They act like they care about the athletes health. But they prove otherwise. Have a 18 games season. But gotta get away from Thursday games. Fans want to see their best players not get hurts.
