Wowzers, that answers any questions about if he's going to be traded. I'm assuming this is yet another deal where money can be moved around to create space. I don't get the "he's washed" comments at all, but just my opinion. He has plenty left in the tank. Here's to hoping for another 100 catch season...... :irishdrinkers:

It was the right move, but that is a lot of money to Lockett when DK is up for a new contract in a few seasons.

Hopefully, they’ll drop some expiring contracts and have enough to pay DK as well.

All in all, a great Seahawks extension. You have to pay the guys that perform sooner or later.

And from what I heard, the cap hit would have been 14 mil in 2021 Will be interesting to see the cap numbers for each season. That being said, the "way too much" posts will likely be flying in soon.

$14,950,000 was the old 2021 OTC cap number.

When it comes to the art of improvisation, no receiver enables a quarterback better. This really cements the Wilson to Lockett combination. Good Times Ahead.

Good, thought he was overpaid on the last extension he got. I won't make that mistake again.

I did think the talk he could get traded was ridiculous. He may not have DK's freakish measurables, but there's nobody more reliable in the league to make a tough catch. I don't think I've ever seen a receiver with better body control. Glad he's sticking around.

And Wags will be gone by the time DK is up for an extension. JS knows what he's doing, and clearly has a plan.

This is very good for the team and the player.

I'm happy he is going to be playing for us for the next few years. He has excellent chemistry with Russell.

Depending on the exact layout of the deal, it will be interesting to see how they proceed from here. This allows John and Pete agency moving forward to be aggressive.

Just heard a ridiculous stat on Tyler.
He averages 3.4 yards of separation per play. The EXACT same number as Tyreek Hill.

How about an alternate wording >>> I just read a ridiculous stat on on Tyreek Hill. He averages 3.4 yards of separation per play. The exact same number as Tyler Lockett!

Pretty smart imo. Lock up a talented guy and push the cap number into future years where it is expected to go up

Although well intended, that's incorrect. It must be due to a misunderstanding of referenced numbers. :229031_shrug:

The title of the thread jumps the gun a bit. The wording from the tweet is "Seattle Seahawks are giving WR Tyler Lockett a four-year, $69.2 million contract extension". Next will come an announcement of an actual contract signing.

A contract must first be signed and turned into NFL offices before we typically become privy to reliable contract details. Once we on the outside have the details, the amount of cap space it created can then be calculated.

The real point is John is creating money, we are not as cap strapped as thought with these extensions now, Wags and Russell have not been done yet if they are going to be done at all. We still have guys to sign, we are making room and keeping core guys and the future intact.
