Secondary coach Nick Sorensen, who has been on the Seahawks coaching staff since 2013, has abandoned the Seahawks late in the off season to join the Urban Meyer show in Jacksonville. He will be their new Special Teams coordinator, replacing former Seahawks special teams coordinator Brian Schneider, who recently stepped away from the Jaguars for personal reasons.

We're pretty far into the off-season, so this is a surprise to have a position coach leave for another team. Sorensen was also the "Nickel specialist" coach.
What are we going to do?
Is Carroll losing control?
Is this cause for concern?
Fire Norton?

Well our secondary has been pretty Blah since Richard became our DC, I would bet we have a line of guys that could be a better secondary coach, Manual, Kam, of the top of my head.

Wow!

I have no actual clue if our ole #31 would be a good secondary coach but I absolutely love the thought.
He’s one of my all time top 10 players, I loved his demeanor and tenacity, it’s something I think we’ve sorely been missing.
If we could inject the current guys with a dose of his special sauce it would be amazing.

Nire Forton!

Change the team name to The Kraken.

Have the Trainers "Cake their Pants" and see how long before players complain.

Add Shuffleboards and Cribbage to the off season training regimen.

Have In and Out Burger do the catering.

I often feel people think great players make great coaches. It is more often not true. There have been a few to make the leap but it is the exception. I think given g Kam a shot at coaching in a lower position at first to see how he does (if he even wants to) would be the wise move. Also just because he was ferocious does not mean everyone under him would have the same tenacity. Some people don’t have it. A good coach will bring out the best qualities in a specific player not themselves.

He has came in and coached when he was hurt, he has helped in practices since retiring and been involved with them, just nothing official.

I think the main reason you don't see it as much is because the great players usually make enough money NOT to deal with the coaching life. It's an all-encompassing and grueling position with late nights, earlier mornings and a lot of time away from family... not to mention the massive anxiety and emotional weight of it all.

Great players would make great coaches as much as regular players or former college players make great coaches... if they have the mind-set and the make-up for it, they have a good chance to make a solid coach. If they don't, they probably won't.

A low level coach getting hired as a coordinator?

Good for him and no news.

This would indicate worse news for the Jaguars.

I know Kam is still around and nearby, just waved to him the other day as I drove by his house.

I really hope everything's alright with Brian Schneider. This is the second job he's vacated due to personal reasons. I hope for his sake that he's just burnt out and has lost motivation to coach rather than it being medical or familial in nature.

Urban Meyer is following the Pete Carroll formula *to a tee.* It's insane, and honestly flattering. That whole coaching staff is just Seahawk after Seahawk, save for the DC, a Baltimore guy.

As for Sorenson? This is a huge promotion for him. He'd be stupid NOT to take it. Nothing indicates a problem here for Seattle. Pete specifically grooms his guys to move up.
