After 10 years and at 33 years old there is no hiding it any longer..
Father time has caught up to Russ.
With the legs and speed gone he is"Mr.Limited" and it's not
going to change because he doesn't.
The legs hid a lot of weak parts of his game and gave him lots of
glory-some say on the backs of others.
What is done is done..It's the end of the Russ era.

Russ was only going to have 2 endings to his career.

Former running QB turned passer who craved teams up to extend their career

or

Donovan McNabb who just disappeared after he turned 33

We still don't know how Russ will end his career. The last thing we want to do is run him out of town as the Rams did with Kurt Warner only for him to lead a team in the division to a Super Bowl.

Kurt had a lighting release, was not a runner but pure pocket guy, completely different situations.

You're exactly correct. His next contract is not going to be the max salary. Play Geno from here.

I think the Hawks are trying to have Russell re-invent his game to a more Xs and Os focused quick read type of game. They would prefer for Russell to make the adjustment, and Russell is struggling with it.

The rest of the league already knows about this and Russell's trade value has dropped like a rock. It looks like the Hawks are giving Russell the rest of this season to make the adjustments, and hoping he is successful.

Might be able to get a second round pick and possibly a 4th rounder. People here were saying we could get 4 1st round picks...LOL

When people said that, they were probably right. Or at least very close. Since then, he has gotten injured, missed several games, and then has played very poorly since his return from injury.

Still, the notion that all they could get for Russ is maybe a 2nd and possibly a 4th is far more laughable than the notion that could have gotten several 1sts before his injury and recent very poor play.

The FO would have to be crazy not to take this deal! When the Head Coach says "I do not know how to fix this"....it is time for a change. It is time for the owner to sit down with management and have a long talk.

Pete’s given him 3 OC’s and there has been no growth in his game. The only thing Pete’s guilty of is hanging on too long to the detriment of building a more sound team.

He's had 10 years to learn how to read a defense, how to throw decent short passes, how to use the
the pocket and how to audible at the line.
He also had a few years to learn how to deal with having declining speed and mobility by using what
the defense gives up on pass routes.
To me the answer is not changing obvious running plays in the huddle to do HERO BALL and
screw the defense on low clock usage plays that are low percentage.

Ten long years!Time to pull the plug..

This. All the talk about Russ being ruined by Pete... if he can't read xs and os now, then when could he? And if he's this incapable after all those years of getting into the facility before anyone to study tape, then what hope is there? For his entire career , he's been known as the guy that works the hardest.

I just want to know what he was working at this whole time to be where he is. His failure to improve at the position is on him. He's a professional, provided the same resources as every other qb in the league. And if you watch tape from 2013, and 2014, it's not a whole lot different. Russ has always been the player he is now. And he's either been content to be that guy or cant make the leap to the next level.

And for him to have made the stink he did this offseason about how the coaches are holding him back or the line is holding him back, or the coordinator is holding him back or he needs more talent... it was a bunch of BS for him now to put on tape the game that he has. Finger be damned. His performance now in terms of being able to dissect a defense is no different than the wildcard game against the Rams last year or any of the games after week 6, or in many instances, from the beginning. Russ put this on everyone but himself and now the cog that's holding the team back most is him.

I have an idea what the Bears offer was...

Not exactly factual. Speculation.

It is also very easy to sit here now and say what a blunder it was to turn down if true. But this was before the injury to his finger which I believe is having more to do with his current performance than anyone would admit.
