An unidentified XFL player tested positive for coronavirus, the league confirmed to USA TODAY Sports on Saturday.
The league said the player, who is a member of the Seattle Dragons, reported his symptoms to team medical staff on Tuesday and was placed in quarantine.
The player received a test for COVID-19 "as soon as possible," according to the XFL, and received the findings Friday — less than 24 hours after the league announced it was suspending its season, like other professional sports leagues around the country.
The unidentified player did participate in Seattle's previous game against the Houston Roughnecks, the league said, but he was asymptomatic at that time.
"The league is alerting players, staff, vendors and partners associated with the Dragons, Roughnecks, and (St. Louis) BattleHawks, as this player also participated in the February 29 game in St. Louis," the league said in a statement provided to USA TODAY Sports on Saturday.
