Yeah, Gale was his favorite player, I think. Here's a pic of Pete in his #40 jersey in high school, same number Gale wore in Chicago.Threedee":4iiy073b said:

Sayers my first real life football hero. I used to work Memorial stadium selling hats etc while he played. Best perk was going inside to watch him play. He was the brightest light KU football ( a mightily struggling program) ever had, and one of the most humble and friendly players I ever met.
