Kirk Cousins finally wins a big game, with a series of TD drives and a 2 minute drive that beats Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in a game that the Vikings HAD to have.

In fairness to (the many) Cousins doubters, the only reason Cousins succeeded on the final drive was that a Packers DB dropped an apparent interception as he hit the ground. Another Cousins floater looked like a sure pick but somehow wound up being a first down completion. It looked like yet another Cousins choke vs the Packers, but Lady Luck was with him this time.

Cousins sure plays better with a healthy Dalvin Cook. And I don't know where this Justin Jefferson came from, but he is lighting it up with big plays and TDs and has become Cousins' #1 target.

Lady Luck sometimes shines on someone and that's all it takes to gain confidence to do it again and then again, we will have to see.

Uhm, Kirk Cousins upset the Saints in the 2019 Wild Card game, at NO no less. So this is #2.

Umm.

Vikings beat Packers @ home 2020.

Might want to think before you type.

Lol, at one point Cousins was 0-for-8 or 0-for-99 or something in primetime games. There was absolutely a narrative that Cousins choked in nearly every "meaningful" game.

Thanks for the reminder about the Cousins-led Vikings playoff win over a good Saints team on the road. Even that win was "tainted" in some eyes because of questionable non-call on what could have been OPI on the game-winning 2 point conversion.

WaPo had a nice little article about Cousins after that. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/n ... story.html

Cousins is interesting to follow partly because of his connection to Russell Wilson from their college days at Michigan State and Wisconsin, respectively. IIRC, they were 1-1 against each other, with Cousins victory against Wilson coming on a controversial, walk-off Hail Mary play, as seen here:

What can I say about Cousins, the dude is MONEY! Now he's up to 2-for-30 in "big games"? JK, he is exactly .500 in his NFL career as a starter, 56-56-2 IIRC.

Now Cousins has another "big game" Sunday vs. the 49ers, two 5-5 teams in playoff contention. I have NO PREDICTION, other than the game will be close, and a Kyle-Shanahan-coached QB will be victorious. FYI, Shanahan was Cousins' coach with the Redskins in 2012-13 or so.

And then yesterday happened........yep, he is who we thought he was.
Yup, pretty much, at the moment Cousins needed to put the team on his back and make a big play, well, those are a 50-50 coin flip deal with him.

He's a guy who needs a strong D and running game and solid O-Line, and can deliver if/when he has that. When he doesn't, it can look ugly at times.

Last week they upset Green Bay and today they lose to the winless Lions.

Any Given Sunday.

Green Bay is possibly getting back 3 Pro Bowlers after the bye week: Z. Smith, Jaire Alexander and Bakhtiari. If they come back, I like our chances through the playoffs.
