Why is it that Sean Peyton is still so highly regarded? His teams have done nothing for years and they are absolutely terrible now.

Sean Peyton seems to be absolved of any responsibility for this, similarly Mike Tomlin at Pittsburgh. Pete Carroll is getting chucked under the bus yet these guys skate free.

It's very clear that Hill will never be more than a third-down QB.
I'd say if Hill's body can hold up to the battering, Payton could make him into a legit QB. Clearly Payton believes in him.

Now that you mention it, the Seahawks could really use a 3rd down specialist QB who is actually good at converting 3rd downs. Aren't Russell and the Hawks LAST in the league in 3rd down conversions?

Yeah, we've been putting up some ignominious third down numbers this season. Often we are in a 6+ yardage situation, which results in the play call being a long-range pass.

Age is a factor and they like to think Pete's teams haven't evolved with the game. Sean Peyton probably cheats more than Bellichick when all is said and done. He's done the least with the most talent. Mickey Loomis gave them a good 10 year window but that has been depleted and they're in the red in terms of future cap space
