  • Anybody watch?

I enjoyed it, for the most part. I thought it would be scary but it's not. I think it's meant to be shocking and macabre, and it is, but a lot of that stuff is blunted by a sort of goofy silliness. It was more absurd than disturbing to me.

Anyway, fun movie. Curious what others think and feel about it.

  • It was definitely....different. I didn't like it in the theater but there was a lot going on in the background. Might need to be rewatched to truly appreciate.

I thought it was beautifully shot and edited and I thought the sound design was very well done. The color palette, the set and scenery, were all very aesthetically pleasing to me. The story was a bit thin, but it served its purpose, which was basically just a vessel to build us up to the shocking reveals. I thought Florence Pugh's performance was fantastic, even if the other actors were mostly average.

I went in knowing and expecting this movie to take some dark, gruesome turns, and it definitely did that. But I think the shock of it all was dulled by the fact that I went in a little too prepared. I've since convinced a few friends who have no context to watch and they all pretty much hate me now haha.

I don't typically get into "scary" movies so when I do watch one and enjoy it I tend to give it more credit than it deserves. Totally possible I'm doing that here, but I'm like 4 or 5 days removed from watching this movie and I'm still thinking about it, so that has to mean something.

No. There doesn’t have to be some lame, pseudo-smart reason as to why something is horrible (like your post trying to describe why it was good). Sometimes things are just horrible. This is one of those things.

Dude, you don’t have to get all butt hurt because you like an awful movie. It’s ok that you do, own it. You’ve always been a contrarian and tried to be the most woke. Why stop now?

  • I'm about halfway through this and 100% agree with what Snitch Zeb stated above. Beautifully shot and edited. Brilliant performance by Pugh. Slick direction ie; randomly throwing in psychedelic, hallucinogenic perspectives, whether the characters are tripping or not. But, at least so far, I expected every dark turn taken.

  • I haven't seen it yet, but plan too soon. I never go by what other people say about a movie. I just prefer to enjoy it and judge for myself.
