  • Is Mikes still making good Stromboli sandwiches?

Topic came up recently, and I had to explain what a Stromboli was.

Back in the late 70s, Mikes on Trent rd had one of the best.

    Are they still around?

    How bout a good Stromboli?
    BAD A$$ rite.

I’m putting in for that job when the NHL starts here. Driving the ice smoothing machine that is. 8)
Haven’t been to Spokane long enough to find out about good food, usually driving thru to Idaho and Montana.

  • I drove by there a couple days ago and they still had a stromboli sign so I would assume they still have it. Making me hungry thinking about it.

    Hey Doc
I have no idea if the place is anything like it was back in the late 70s and early 80s.

Back then IIRC you had to walk up to a window to place an order.
May have been inside seating but I remember using the window.

I don’t think I ever had anything from there other than the “Stromboli” but it was good.
Touted as one of the best anywhere.

If they still have it, I suggest you give it a try if you ever get a chance.
It’s possible that things have changed but if it’s the same, probably one of the top ten sandwiches I’ve ever had.

Naw, I’ve got plenty of good food down this way.

This topic came up because I had to explain what a “Stromboli” is to a guy that’s never been away from Texas. The dude probably has eaten the same 8-10 things his entire life, and he was older than myself. The conversation brought back memories of Mikes in Spokane.

Oh yea, they can be had.
Don’t get me wrong, some of the “classic” southern USA food is amazingly good stuff but a lot of southerners are stuck in the home cooking rut. Many of them have a very limited menu, and have eaten very few things not on their list.
Like is said, I had to explain what a Stromboli was to a guy, and that got me to reminiscing about the one from Mikes.
