  • That is sad, he has not looked healthy for a long time, truly one of the greatest Improvisational guitarists ever.

  • Nooooooooo!!!!!!

I was dreading this news. Heard he wasn’t doing too well. This man gave us so much great music. One of the very best to ever do it.

    Of course .... it’s 2020 after all.

    RIP, Legend.

Anyone in the Seattle area, KISW is pretty much playing nothing but VH (like they do when someone dies).
If you want to appreciate the man and his band’s art, it’s on the radio now.

That’s a cool story. I knew Eddie played on that song and it definitely had his finger prints on it with the song layout, but I wasn’t sure how much sway he had in it. Working with QJ had to be cool too.

  • EVH and Randy Rhoads (who was taken from us much too soon) were the 2 best guitarists from that 70’s Los Angeles hard rock scene. Those guys paved the way. Glad I got to see Van Halen live 2 times.

  • An absolute legend. One of the most influential guitarists in the history of music. You could EASILY put him on a guitar player Mt. Rushmore.
Nice call on Randy Rhoads. My all time favorite player next to Jimi Hendrix

  • A rock legend in every sense of the meaning. Like some of you, I grew up to Van Halen. Easily the GOAT to me of rock guitarists. Thanks Eddie for the music and the memories. Heaven has one hell of a rock band, that's for damn sure.

  • Took a long time for people to figure out his pluck technique, he just didn't see anything that said rules when it came to a Guitar.

  • Not only did VH leave a massive mark on music, they were underrated vocally imo. Great harmonies, especially from Michael Anthony. Amazing singer in his own right. And DLR, like him or not was one of the best front men of all time.

  • This is me and my buddies at our 8th grade talent show in 1984. We played and sang Jump and Happy Trails.

Took me and one other dude two straight weeks to do that big ass Van Halen logo. Had to hang paper on the wall in sections, then use a projector to trace the outline with yard rulers before filling it in. Would they even let two kids on 20 foot ladders now to do something like this? Doubt it.

As a boy in the 80's that loved rock, there was no bigger rock god than Eddie Van Halen. He embodied everything you'd want in a lead guitarist, looks, fierceness, showmanship, but most of all blinding virtuoso prodigious talent. I remember listening to VH 1, it was like a religious experience. After that, I was hooked, couldn't get enough metal and rock. I wore that album out.
