Oops. Haven't heard an update in a couple of hours.

I've been through the Suez Canal on a freighter ship in 1963, on which we traveled to Australia after leaving England, but I was only 3, so I don't remember it at all. In 1956, the Egyptians deliberately blocked the canal by sinking obstacles in it.

I hope they get that gigantic container ship freed up soon!

I believe it's been widened at least twice since the 60's. Still barely big enough for two big ships to pass each other, by those drawings/pics. Huge traffic spot. Saves so many miles vs going around the continent of Africa.
