I figured I would start this thread because when I was visiting over there in early August, I had a heck of a time selecting a place to stay that was convenient to Century Link but not horrendously expensive. I know there are trains and buses and all that, but I had no idea if it was possible to walk from the places that had rooms left to the train stations, or where the buses stopped, or any of that info.

Also, some places charge additional for a parking space and by the time you add it all up it may be better to stay closer than to do the train/bus thing.

I hope people will update this thread with their suggestions and experiences if they come to Seattle for a game, so that people like me have can follow their steps and avoid their pitfalls.

Anyway, I settled on First Hill Extended Stay Apartments, which is about a mile away from the stadium on 10th Ave. I've seen various reviews of the place ranging from decent to downright terrible, but as I just wanted a place for my brother-in-law and I to stay for the night, I went for it.

We had a loft apartment, which was really nice. Had 2 queen beds, one in the loft above the kitchen and a separate bedroom. The bedroom had an en-suite with shower, and there was another shower/toilet off the main area. I think it would be ideal for two couples. Cost for the Green Bay game on the 5th is $263, which is a bit more dear than it was for the pre-season game, but still not bad if split between two couples. Plenty of space, and the kitchen can be nice if you're looking to save money vs dining out. I didn't see any restaurants or such close by, but we ate downtown after the game and had breakfast on the way back to Yakima, so that didn't bother us.

It's a fairly steep walk back from the game, so best to save your legs. There are some buses that go up to 8th ave, but we never sorted that out. You do pass some dodgy areas where people appear to be living in tents and such, so maybe not very kid-propriate? No one bothered us, however.

I'd give it 3 stars out of 5, but if I was going to see the game with another couple, I'd give the loft apartment a bonus half-star because of the convenience of the layout.

I know there was a thread that had all sorts of information on it for out of towners coming in last year, maybe someone can resurrect it.

Stayed in several places in Seattle as we come from Oregon.

The opener we're staying at the Bellevue Red Lion - 24hr shuttle from the hotel to the bus transit express and drops at the bus mall next to the stadium. 20 minute ride. Bus runs til midnight from Seattle back. Free parking and very reasonable when booked early.

Renton Red Lion - close to freeway 900-I-5 to hop on right to stadium. Reasonable rates just make sure to get a non-smoking room. 238 was one to avoid.

Stayed at Best Western Executive Plus at Space Needle several times and other hotels near there that were ok, had shuttle for awhile, then stopped it, started it again so check before a stay. lots of restaurants close too. Prices seem to have gone up though recently.

Silver Cloud Lake Union - nice hotel, shuttle to game and breakfast included too. Little pricier

Clearwater Casino - Bainbridge Island - fun to stay at then travel over to game in morning on ferry. Can't remember name but stayed at hotel in town there too, same kind of deal. Very reasonable just have to factor extra travel time in.







Best Western Executive and hotels near there (space needle) all ok but prices seemed to have home up in recent past.

If your looking for cheap, safe, clean, good access, this is my go to hotel. The 520 construction has made it slightly less convenient, but it is still quite convenient. Generally speaking I would never consider staying in a La Quinta, but this hotel is the exception.

La Quinta Seattle Bellevue / Kirkland

Right around the corner from the South Kirkland Park and Ride. Free parking. Easy to get a bus into the stadium area. I have stayed at the Bellevue Red Lion, but there are some sketchy folks who like to hang around there.

-Edited to add the La Q is off my list now. It's showing its age and they have stopped offering prices commensurate with the quality. I don't stay here anymore.

Any of the South Lake Union/ Seattle Center, or Eastlake hotels are great. Certainly more expensive and fewer and fewer are offering free parking (at this point it may be down to Silver Cloud only for free parking). I generally stay at either the Lake Union Silver Cloud, or the Residence Inn Lake Union, or the Holiday Inn Express Seattle Center or the Holiday Inn Seattle Center, or the Homewood Suites Convention Center.

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to the pricing strategies of these hotels. There will be times when some of them are at peak rates while the others are at reduced rates. You just have to check.

Then there are the stadium area hotels. Total ripoff IMHO so I never stay there for games.

Some of the downtown hotels are sweet, especially if you aren't driving. You just have to shop around for a decent deal.

Last December my fiancé took me to the Rams game and she got us a room at the Pan Pacific. At first I didn't think the location was good but turns out they have a town car that drops you off and picks you up free of charge anywhere within a few miles of the hotel. Super nice place to stay and didn't have to pay for transportation to the stadium except a tip for the driver. After the game the driver was there to pick us up and take us back to hotel.

Anyone try the 2 foot hot dog or the buck of nachos? Just curious what is the price?

We love the Moore hotel.

It's an old building with recent upgrades.

Walking distance to C-link.
1 1/2 blocks to light rail if you don't want to walk.
1-2 blocks from Pikes market.
Walking distance to water front or Seattle center.
We like the street culture and enjoy walking to the closer things.

The Moore has some European style rooms that you share a bath room but not all of them are that way, just be aware if you are booking.
It's not super fancy but the rooms are nice and the people are helpful and friendly. The prices are great and you can't beat the location.

I can also recommend Moore Hotel. Stayed there 10 years ago when in town to see the Sonics. Really great location and well price. This time, as we now have kids and are staying long enough to take in 2 games (Cardinals & 49ers) we have used Airbnb to get a really nice looking apartment in Queen Anne for about $100 per night.

We come up from Oregon and have stayed at the casino on Bain Bridge Island. That way we avoid having to deal with Seattle traffic and parking which is over priced as intercity parking rates go. The casino rooms are very nice, free parking with a shuttle to and from the ferry that docks about a 15 minute walk to the CLINK for a couple of old timers. There are lots of tranportation options if walking is not your thing.

Is that close to the stadium? Like walking distance or no?

For someone flying into SeaTac the day before the game...
The Tukwila and Angle Lake areas near the Link Rail are worth a look. Close to SeaTac.

I use Link Rail to get to Sounders games at the CLink from those two stations, and it's always worked out.
As far as hotels near those stations, check reviews, rates and distances from the Link Rail station online. Lots of options.

The Link Rail itself takes about 30 minutes to get to the Stadium from the south end stations of Angle Lake or Tukwila. If you boarded Link Rail 2 hours before kickoff that should get you to your seat just fine with some time to poke around on the way. I've only used Link Rail for Sounders games, not Seahawks games; if it's way crowded and takes longer on Seahawks game days, someone please chime in with that more accurate info.
