Anybody here surprised Diggs says this? I mean from some of our perspective, "duh" comes to mind, but it's surprising to hear it nonetheless.

That's just an honest response from a player who is expecting more out of his team. This is far from the first time I've heard a player say this after a big loss. I also don't see it as a dig whatsoever. Maybe a bit of Hyperbole in the post headline here.

I wonder what "hype" he is referring to. Most sites rank the Seahawks in the bottom quarter of the league at best.

If you listen to him, it doesn't sound like a dig to the team. His emphasis is on "that." It sounds like a dig to how much they celebrated the week one win. As in, they aren't as good as they believed they were after that win. And Diggs is certainly one of the leaders that I have no problem with providing this level of candor.

Also, he's clearly correct.

He’s telling the truth. It’s refreshing instead of trotting out the old company (see team) lines.

"Pete Carroll was so convinced that the Seattle Seahawks could have a successful 2022 season that, during training camp, the longtime coach gave the team a presentation about the 50th anniversary of the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins and asked his players why they couldn't accomplish the same feat, sources told ESPN."

yeah, that speech was gonna backfire immediately after the 1st loss. cringe. atleast now reality should set back in.

They had a strong, consistent run. We all know what it is this year.

I’m just hoping that management knew it as well or, that they know it now. With the moves or lack there of with certain players, it makes me think we thought we had a chance.

DK is my favorite Hawk. But….I would’ve traded him for picks…and planned on developing what we brought in along with the next two years of draft crop.

I’m sure that will be an unpopular take on it but…I doubt he cracks 1K this year and when it’s all said and done, he’ll be scratching and clawing to get out of here.

It’s a rebuild. Always has been. Plan for the future.

i'm onboard. love dk, but we're wasting him with geno. would have been better imo to get 1-2 more 1sts last offseason. still a good problem to have.

Here and there
A players emotions usually ride week to week. If we win this next week, he'll be singing a different tune. However, you can't blame a player when he's down...prides been busted, especially for a great player like Diggs...but I say hold your chin up..Niners are an excellent team to reckon with these days...even with Jimmy at the helm. Their team has had time to gel and those high round picks are now paying off...our time will come due...it's just a matter of time.

I can understand the surface level attractiveness of this path but it doesn't make sense to me overall. That would leave one more position that has to be filled and developed with an unknown player. How many draft picks of WRs have they gotten right the past few years aside from DK? We already have a young stud at that spot so we don't have to waste time and resources to fill it and can concentrate on where we have holes. Like WR3 still. I don't want to go into a rookie QBs first season, whether he starts or not, without a strong receiver presence. Off-hand I don't recall Lockett's contract status but he isn't young. DK may not like it but he knew what he was getting into when he signed and, imo, is one of the most important veteran pieces of the rebuild. I'd rather have that than waste a few picks on WR1 whiffs.

I think pulling this out into individual quotes makes it look worse than it is. The last two quotes are connected.

When you listen to him say it, he is clearly emphasizing "that". "We're not THAT good"... and he says it referring to us feeding into hype about ourselves.

To me he is saying we're not good enough to be feeding into the hype. And he is right, hardly any team is. Teams that can feed into the hype about themselves and get away with it are usually generational.

Diggs is Veteran enough to realize AND STATE that neither the Seahawks Offense nor Defense 'Have Arrived'.
It's still very EARLY in the "Reload" Process with BOTH Offense & Defense, BUT I can see how playing your Rooks in ALL facets of the game will help them to take their play to the next level by year's end.
You can ease these guys into the new system, or get them the NFL experience (fire) NOW and let them hone their skills in real time.
From a 4-3 TO A 3-4 & offensively going with a LOT LESS SCRAMBLING to more conventional QB play, TWO GAMES IN?? Yeah, there's still a LONG way to go.
