That was the #1 DVOA Defense we just killed...

Every time Bevell kills a drive by running on 2nd and 10, like he did yet again today, I think about how much better Seattle's already fantastic offense would be if Josh McDaniels were the offensive coordinator. Bevell is mediocre and deserves no credit for Russell Wilson's heroics. Whoever it...

    Everyone's blaming Bevell, but......

Bevell is a bog standard, replacement level OC, which is disappointing on a team that prides itself on competing. He, or whoever sets the game plan philosophy, has cost us games, of course. Thanks to Wilson's passing, mobility, and effect on the run game by his running and opening up running...

    A couple RB's in draft a necessity

There isn't a back in this league today that could run behind this line with no threat from Wilson's read option. When Lynch didn't have Wilson's read option, he averaged 3.5 ypc in 2010 and 4.2 ypc in 2011. Michael is averaging 4.2 ypc this year. I can't square the facts the claim.

    Michael, Mcevoy, and Spiller!

Those guys are all extremely talented players, though. The fact that the offense has this much special talent is the incredible part. McEvoy is rumored to have run a 4.3 40 at 6'6", Michael may be the most athletically gifted RB in football, and Spiller was picked 10th overall in his draft, not...

Nice game called by Bevell today

More to do with shift in philosophy, probably by Carroll. The thing that has normally held Seattle back in games like this is mindlessly pounding the ball into a dominant defensive line on 1st and 2nd down through the first 3 quarters before moving to the spread late and demanding Wilson save...

    Kapadia dropping some knowledge

Seattle's run game is elite because of Wilson. Seattle's run game was average before Wilson and Seattle's run game is still average when they aren't running zone read. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-wh ... mpaign=nfl Seattle is so effective at the zone read because Wilson is the most...

Earl Thomas best defensive Seahawks player ever?

If you look at Seattle's team defensive passer rating, in the season and a half before Sherman, it was near the bottom of the league. Inflected at the game Sherman stepped onto the field, in the middle of his rookie season, it vaulted to the top of the league and has been near the top ever...

Poll: Who wins the NBA title tonight?

Well, the big problem is that Curry just never recovered from the knee injury. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/ste ... shot-back/ ...so Cleveland didn't have to sag quite as much into the gravity of Curry. Cleveland is not a great defensive team, but they looked great this series. There...

Do you think body clock issues affect west coast teams traveling east or no?

Panthers seek clarification on intentional grounding rule

Broadcasters should brush up on intentional grounding, too. How many times this season do I have to listen to the booth beg for an intentional grounding call because "the ball didn't reach the line of scrimmage" or "he wasn't out of the pocket" when there was receiver 5 yards from the ball! The...

Biggest fear or Concern going into Carolina

Far and away, officiating. Or "penalties", if you prefer. If Seattle had not been docked 10 yards on each of their first 4 possessions, I suspect they would have blown out Arizona the first time. DVOA says they should have. Pete Carroll's dejected face after the game says he expected to.

    Wilson Saids Newton Is MVP

Sure doesn't, as David Robinson knows only too well. Though to be fair, I find this (common) philosophy of MVP thinking logically incoherent. I mean, if MVP literally just means, by definition, "what the majority of voters think, regardless of their ignorance", then yeah Kam is obviously...

Any one else think Sherman had one of his best games ever?

Almost certainly did. In that article by a former college kicker: http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/fi ... ield-goal/ He goes into great detail about what went wrong on the kick. Probably the most important thing is that Walsh planted his foot almost 50% closer than he normally does. This...

Is Pete the best coach in the NFL?

Nope. If Seattle wins this year, last year will be cast in an entirely different light. It will be "dynasty Seattle one unlucky break from 3 straight titles".

    Thoughts on Christine Michael??

You were wrong. For us Michael backers, our question was always what would Michael do with a starting back's touches. This is what we expected to happen, and it did. He looks EXACTLY the same as he did all last year, when he averaged 5 ypc and gained that average almost entirely on short yardage...
