    Time to get Baker

I would only go with Mayfield if we could get him for cheap. Better than Lock? Probably. Lock had multiple opportunities to succeed and fell short. But Mayfield is not elite and whinny, not a good combo. If the Seahawks can admit to themselves that they are in a rebuild, I agree with the...

Baker Mayfield: Seahawks most likely option

I have my doubts about Mayfield, too, but for next year he would probably be our best option if the price is right. We already know Smith and Lock are not starting material. They had plenty of opportunities to prove themselves and fell short consistentl.

Who is our next QB? 70 million would be useless with no QB?!

I would just note that the people running the Broncos are smart and capable. If Wilson was no longer an elite QB, they would not have traded for him. I always wondered if Carroll was too rigid in his approach, coaching to a system rather than to his team’s talents.

Okay - seriously. WTF is the global plan here.

Top QBs are hard to find and Drew Lock is not one of them, but Wilson is. I get that there was tension, but the last time I can remember someone of Wilson's caliber get traded was when Brees went to New Orleans, and then he was hurt and the Chargers had Rivers (who they should have traded...

Well, guess which AFC team I follow

In the nfc, of course, I am a Seahawks fan, but in the afc, the Broncos are my team (I used to be a Charger fan, being originally from San Diego, until the team moved to LA, an act of treachery without equal in human history). So one of my teams got worse and is likely in rebuild mold, the...

What NFL.com says about the Saints game

I used to follow the Chargers. When Schottenheimer could not take them to the SB, he ended up getting fired in a 12-4 year. What followed was a 14 year drought, which now seems to be coming to an end. Most fans would love to take that firing back. One thing that is worse than not making the...

What NFL.com says about the Saints game

Here is the link: https://www.nfl.com/news/2021-nfl-seaso ... n-monday-n Basically, said too much running into the teeth of the Saints defense, too little use of Metcalf, poor offensive play calling. Sort of confirming the obvious, admittedly.

    Bad TV reception out east

I am watching the game near Baltimore, or to be more precise, trying to. It shuts down every 30 seconds for a few minutes! Any troubles out west?

    Tre Flowers released

Wonder what happened after such a promising start.

    Should Seattle lose tonight

Well, so far it looks like a win tonight is in reach. The Hawks are not an elite team, even with Wilson. But it is hard to see how they make the playoffs if they lose tonight. Even if they lose, I don’t see them making many changes until closer to the end of season.

Fire Carroll? Remember Schottenheimer and the Chargers

And the Chargers kept winning, as Lombardi said, that is the only thing. Coaches that can win consistently are hard to find. I can promise you, if they fire Carroll and the Hawks start missing the playoffs, it won‘t seem worth the risk.

Fire Carroll? Remember Schottenheimer and the Chargers

I understand all of the frustrations with the Hawks. Now that Wilson is out for 3ish games, we are probably not going to the playoffs. While it sometimes happens that a backup rises the challenge, I cannot recall it happening this early in the season. Foles is probably the best performance by...

There is no reason Geno Can not be good

I hope you are right, but doubt it, unless it is a one-game thing. There is too little room for error, given our record. If he could carry the team, he would be a starter.

Is this type of finger injury fully recoverable?

Could mean the end of any playoff hopes, unless it is a one game thing. If Geno Smith we’re the answer, he would be a starter. Too much season left for a backup to manage, and our record is already a problem.

    Encouraging Loss

Being on the east coast (usually, recently bought a house in Camas), I don’t get to see the Hawks much, but did see tonight’s game on a Southwest flight. We were up against a very capable QB, but our defense does not seem to show up when it counts. When the game was on the line, the Rams...

Last two Super Bowls won by teams with “cheap” QBs

That is a good point. You can get away with an expensive QB if you can surround him with quality players on rookie contracts. What does not seem to work anymore is to build a SB team without a lot of quality players on rookie contracts. And because the QB, off the rookie contract, is likely...

Last two Super Bowls won by teams with “cheap” QBs

Exactly my point. We had top players on a rookie contract. You have to go back to 2012 to find a SB winner paying the QB top dollar, but to be fair it was also true several years before that. It is probably no coincidence that in 2011 the NFL moved to new rookie contracts.

Last two Super Bowls won by teams with “cheap” QBs

Fair point. It is a bit of a conundrum. If you pay the QB full value, it is tough to put enough quality personnel around him, if you get them on a rookie deal, you can surround them with better players, but if the QB does not perform, you are still in a bind. Aside from Brady, if you look at...

Last two Super Bowls won by teams with “cheap” QBs

I always thought that one of the main reasons the Patriots won so many Super Bowls is that they did not have to pay their QB full value. The last two SBs were won by teams with below market QBs. I don’t see it happening this year, but I wonder if the Hawks will move on from Wilson sooner than...

    What will Geno Smith make?

Anyone heard what his salary will be? I always thought being a backup QB is one of the best gigs in football. Good money and don't (usually) get hurt.
