If anyone is asking why RW makes 'elite qb money' despite not playing like a HoF QB in their prime ala Rodgers and Brady there it is. Connect the dots.

Hawks didn't want to go fish in the 2016 draft and they haven't shown much desire to bring outside FA talent in barring a handful of players like Cary Williams.

So if any of you guys feel like saying "He needs to play like an elite QB cause he's getting paid like one" realize that market forces, salary cap inflation, lack of many viable alternatives, how the Seahawks team build, all play a role in how the salary sausage is made with RW.

Once that is realized maybe ya'll can put the fear of asphyxiating from a lack of winning right now behind you.

They should totally sign Tavaris Jackson.

The point the OP makes is well made. The Jets are getting some production out of Fitzmagic this year, and the Cardinals were very fortunate with the Palmer and Warner acquisitions, but cases like those are exceedingly rare. Getting production out of the QB position on the fly is the hardest thing to do in sports management.

I love how many former Seahawks QBs are on that list. Continuity has a premium.

People have a tendency to take what they have for granted at times, especially when it comes to players for their favorite teams. Although RW will never be a stats monster, or ever fit the mold of a true passing machine, this kid is special.

Assertions that Wilson or pretty much any other good quarterback is "overpaid" completely ignores the economics of what teams are willing to pay to due scarcity at the position. The scarcity is because few quarterbacks can't qualify as good, much less the subjective "elite" term people like to throw around.

Osweiler is intriguing only because he's big, he's got some talent, and he's been learning from a great QB for a few years. He'll probably get a good shot to start somewhere next year just because of the untapped potential. The rest of the list is pretty awful or pretty old. Glad we locked Wilson up.

Why would you think Denver is just going to let him walk? They're going to get the number two seed in the AFI and Peyton will retire after this year regardless of making the Superbowl or doing what I expect (getting punched out in the divisional round).

I dont think he could do worse than Manning, considering Manning is almost dead last in the entire NFL in QB rating
