Wow, very interesting info; that's a good deal for Tomlinson and if nothing else the addition of his experience. I expect there might be game to game roster bonuses or other incentives to be paid as well but at present he's signed and the team is still under the cap.

I'm sure we we soon see some roster and cap moves come draft time.

Especially next Tuesday or Wednesday. Something big is likely to go down. Makes me think of when the 29ers made the huge trade to move up and get Trey Lance.
They gave up 3 firsts and a 3rd if I remember right. Hilarious.

Thing is it really hasn't hurt them in the same way the Seahawks were with busted early picks and a overpriced trade.

I'm wondering if the team could unload an expensive contract by trade. By now I'm certain JS has played through a huge number of different options by trade of pick or even where a player like Darrell Taylor or Dre'Mont Jones or perhaps even an offensive player could be traded.

Maybe I'm just spitballing though. As nobody has clue 1 what the team will do though I'm sure JS wants more early picks in this draft and the trenches are a high priority.

OTC has Tomlinson's contract details, and it is, in fact, $1.21M. No hint of why anyone would think it is "up to $4M". Maybe there's an incentive for starts.

Wow, that's a team friendly contract.

Tomlinson must want to be onboard going into the season with the Seahawks.

Wouldn’t an incentive for starts be considered likely to be earned and count against the cap? Wouldn’t it need to be something less likely to be earned

I agree from what's been reported about the incentives in the deal that they should be Likely-to-be-earned. According to OTC, Tomlinson played every snap in 2023.

As similar situation happened with Bobby Wagner last year. His original cap figure was lower, then adjusted up $1.5M a while later. Hopefully that doesn't happen here.

It would appear that Dre'Mont Jones could soon be a trade piece with the acquisition of Murphy. I guess we shall see whether the team thinks his non-performance of last season was related to him or more to Clint Hurrt.

Truly want to see more depth on the OLine as a well.

Unless you get a team to take on all his salary, I don't see it happening.

You are probably right. Seems as if this acquisition may have been an expensive mistake.

I hope Jones takes the drafting of Murphy as a serious incentive to start playing with his hair on fire.

I had a moment flash back of Michael Jackson doing a Pepsi Commercial

With the 81st pick the Seahawks draft OG- Christian Haynes, Connecticut.

This player is a big, dependable, sturdy OG that was ranked a good deal higher on many draft boards than 81st. He's a bit shorter than the average for his position 6'3" at 317 but has average length arms and is strong and plays hard and nasty. To me he's a great pick.

Here's a draft profile: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Christian-Haynes-OL-Connecticut
