Former Seattle Seahawks defensive back Brandon Browner has been sentenced to eight years in California state prison after he plead no contest to attempted murder, TMZ reports.

The charges stem from an incident involving Browner that occurred July 8, when Browner allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s residence through a locked window, then chased, dragged and smothered her in a carpet with her two children present. Browner was arrested and charged with several felonies, including burglary, false imprisonment, and violation of a restraining order.

On Tuesday, the 34-year-old Browner pled no contest to one count of attempted murder and two counts of willful child endangerment, while the remaining charges of robbery, burglary and false imprisonment were dropped.

Browner, who has been in custody since July, will receive credit for 300 days for good behavior thus far, per TMZ.

Browner was an original member of the Seahawks’ Legion of Boom secondary, spending three seasons with the Seahawks from 2011-13. A Pro Bowler in 2011, he spent time with New England and New Orleans, then came back to Seattle in 2016 but failed to make the team out of training camp.
