What is the prestige ranking of bowls that the PAC-12 usually plays in? Obviously the Rose is #1, but where would the second team go? I kind of thought it was the Holiday Bowl, but in one bowl projection I see Oregon going they don't seem like the #2 team in the Conference. Wazzu would seem to me, to be the #2 team in the conference and they seem to most often be slated for the Alamo bowl. Is the Alamo Bowl really the consolation to the Rose? I see Utah (in one projection) tied to the Redbox Bowl, in Santa Clara.

From all that, and based on the projected opponents, it definitely sounds like the Alamo Bowl is the second most prestigious. It just doesn't seem like it should be.

One problem I have with the whole New Year's Six thing is the conference bowl tie-ins. Texas will go to the Sugar Bowl even though they are ranked 15th just because they are the highest non-playoff Big12 team. That needs to change. After the playoffs are set they should just take the best teams. You can loosely try to keep conference-bowl alignments but they shouldn't force it. Give us match-ups and good games.
