Something about this, the NFL has a monopoly on this service. Also there is the fact that sometimes channels change the game as the blowout is assured. That would be a sticking point. Hate to say it, but monopolies are kinda not a great thing. Direct tv has a sort of monopoly on the NFL Ticket and that is against the sherman anti trust act. Remember the competition is what makes America work in this capitalist society...for now.
Peace.......and Go Hawks.

Wow we have it so good with Gamepass over here. Expensive at £130 but you can watch anything, anytime.

You're saying that the NFL has a monopoly on selling NFL games?

That's like saying Toyota has a monopoly on Civics.

Yes they do. Do you recall this comment after all games in the past...

"Any rebroadcast or other use of this material without the express consent of the nFL is prohibited. "

They own the rights. They are trying to branch out thru the NFL channel to have exclusive rights to watch their programming and that wont float as they would lose tons of revenue from the advertisement dollars not being used anymore.

My point was that the NFL having a "monopoly" on how they broadcast and sell THEIR content doesn't go against the innovation of the free market or capitalism, it's the POINT of the free market and capitalism. The innovation IS the NFL, as they could not exist if they were not allowed to enter contracts in how they choose to sell and profit off of the product they've put in the marketplace.

Also, DirectTV doesn't have a "monopoly" on Sunday Ticket, they have EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS for one type of NFL product, just as ESPN has exlusive rights on another type of NFL product (Monday Night Football), just as Nike has exclusive rights (jerseys), etc., etc.

As for the Sherman anti-trust act, the reasons for why are unrelated to the arguments you're making, but all the major sports leagues in the U.S. have anti-trust exemptions (they're labor related, and it's actually the anti-trust exemption which places the only atypical restrictions on how the NFL can market and sell its product, not the reverse).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. If only this thread was in the shack so we could pour gasoline on the fire.
