Point spread: Eagles opened as 1.5-point favorites; the total was 48.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report)

NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 31.2-30.8 Eagles

What say you? I believe in the Seahawks so much, that I'm sitting Sanchez AND Maclin, and Parkey. ( 2 qb league)
Note: This isnt a fantasy related post. Just emphasizing my belief in the action green.

Maclin...Oh, Maclin.

I probably shouldn't pretend like I know X's and O's, cause I don't, but the Eagles always seemed like a zone beater team to me. There's no Dez Bryant on that WR corps, just a bunch of average WRs who are well coached into knowing where the soft spots are. Seattle is running more man coverage this year. You won't easily find such opportunities against a physical press man coverage group, and there really isn't anybody that can burn Seattle the way that TY Hilton did last year.

I think Shady McCoy MIGHT give Seattle some problems. He fits the profile of the kind of back that can beat our D. But I would be surprised if Sanchez finds much success. Seattle hasn't allowed a passing TD in a month, and they haven't allowed two passing TDs since... the Cowboys game.

I am also concerned about Shady. His quickness in and out of his breaks is comparable to that of Jamall Charles. But IF Philly's plan is to beat us on the ground, I don't see that tactic generating enough points for them to win the game. I definitely believe we will be tested, but after the defenses our O has faced recently, I think we will score TDs against Philly. I think Philly will be forced to roll the dice with Sanchez.

IF there was any benefit in Havin' Harvin around the team, hopefully facing his quicks in practice will help us compensate for some of the stuff the Eagles will want to do with Sproles. I am concerned about Shady but I think neutralizing, or at least limiting Sproles, will be paramount to our success.

I think the line is right where it should be. Figure cold weather Philly has to be worth close to 6 pts to the home team. Especially against a comparably warm weather team like us. So basically the line maker is saying we are a 5 pt better team at a neutral venue. If this game were in Seattle (IMO the highest value of HFs), the spread would be in the area of Seattle -8. Closer to 10, actually, but as always, the odd makers are just trying to balance the books and imo, -8 would achieve that with less fluctuation than opening at -10.

All said, the above suggests Seattle is a good play in this scenario. The line has barely moved which shows the accuracy and skill of the line maker that set the opening number. But I should add it's not a game I would bet unless just for fun. A wise bettor, imo, wouldn't risk a cent this week, knowing he can cash in huge against SF and will need as much support ($) as possible to maximize his potential. I don't care what they open that line at. We will cover.
