The Sanctuary is the main room of worship inside a church. It houses the Altar, the Pulpit, the Choir loft and the Nave.

Depending on the denomination of the house of worship, photography of a wedding may not be allowed of the altar and pulpit area, hence the shots taken near the door between the Narthex and the Nave, or where the parishioners sit. In a Catholic church, the Narthex (or Foyer) is called the Vestibule.
