There are many fans who put way too much stock in first round selections. Just watch the draft year after year. When a player is picked, if he’s a guy that has been mocked high, fans cheer like they just won on a last second score. Roughly half of all first round picks are busts. Every. Damn. Year.
There are also many fans of the entire draft. The draft is a means for restocking your team with POTENTIAL talent. No matter what round they are chosen. By trading down 9 selections in the first round and gaining an additional 2 picks, Seattle essentially passed on 3% of any potential prospects that will be selected in this draft.
Be a draft fan. Enjoy the process.
