This Friday on NFL Network, 6:00 pm Pacific, 9:00 pm Eastern.

Followed immediately by A Football Life: Warren Moon. Mostly Oilers stuff of course, but I'm gonna record it anyways...

OK kids -- sit down and pay attention:

When Steve Largent retired, he held every significant all-time receiving record.

Catches, Yards, Touchdowns, Consecutive Games with a catch.

He changed the game before the game changed.

Perhaps the best 3rd down possession receiver I've ever seen. You could count on one hand minus the thumb and pinkie how many drops he had in a season. Due to having watched Largent for 1+ decades, I simply can't tolerate a wide receiver dropping a pass. He raised my expectations.

At the height of Largent's career, sometime in the mid-late 80's, I saw a stat that just blew my mind. It was late in the season and the network coverage ran an in-game, between downs stat that prior to the current game, Largent had 71 receptions, of which 67 went for either a first down or a touchdown.

No bubble screens back then.

Calling Largent a possession receiver is selling him short.

Dude was the best wide receiver in the league for much of his career.
