Vegas sportsbooks don't expect either of this season's finalists to repeat as conference champions next winter.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook tabbed the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers as 8-to-1 favorites for Super Bowl 51, to be played at NGR Stadium in Houston on Feb. 5, 2017.

The Panthers, who only lost one game this season, have odds of 12-1, which is behind NFC counterparts Seattle, Green Bay (10-1) and Arizona (10-1).

Out of the AFC, the Broncos are 20-1, behind New England, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati (12-1).

Oh, and the Browns? 200-1.

Arizona and Green Bay seem a bit high to me. And Minnesota seems WAY high, they are a "happy to make the playoffs" team IMO.

The Jets are a bit too low. I know Fitzmagic is a free agent, but the Jets had a better defense than Minnesota with an offense that wasn't hinging everything on a 31 year old RB. If I was a gambler, the Jets would be my buy low team. Denver also seems just a little low. And Buffalo still feels like a sleeper. A deep sleeper might be Detroit, they flashed great things at times in the 2nd half last season. If not for a phantom facemask call and a miracle 68 yard untimed hail mary on the next play by Rodgers, the Lions would have swept GB last year and finished their season going 7-1 in the back half.

These odds are really just a reflection of how the 2015 season looked. It was a muddled and weird season with lots of parity and weirdness. And the two SB teams, despite their #1 seeds, were not the two best teams on a down by down basis, unlike the two previous SBs (#1 vs #2 in DVOA both times).

I believe in the Seahawks! I believe that they will be better next season.....will win our Division at 13-3 and will play in the Super Bowl.

It doesn't look like Bennett was quite ready for that shot.

Eeeeyeah! Looked like he was thinking about a different kind of 'shot!'

Carolina and Seattle should just be penciled in as the NFC finalists every year at this stage.

I can see why Denver is lower, as Manning is getting older and there is uncertainty with Osweiler.

I can see Carolina being about right at 12/1. There is typically more turn over on a Super Bowl team, with a definite hang over and loss of motivation. They are still a talented and young team though.

I'd buy on the Jets, as their division is trending up, which means more struggles for a Patriots team that is starting to age a bit. Pats already had injury issues last year and they have two physical defenses in Buffalo and NYJ to deal with.

Pats might be a bit high, but that is a team that knows how to play playoff football. It's amazing.

Carolina has to play a first-place schedule next year. Don't quite think they will roll through that... we'll be back!
The 1st place schedule vs a 2nd place schedule is not as big of a deal as you may think. It just doesn't carry any clout since realignment. The only differences it creates in their schedule vs the Hawks schedule is this:

They go to Minn to play the Vikings and the Hawks go to Green Bay - advantage AZ
They play the Redskins at home while the Hawks get the Eagles at CLink - advantage unknown (don't know how good Philly will be with a new coaching staff)

Makes a lot of sense. All three suffered through some ridiculous injuries. Pats were constantly missing starters and the moment they came back others fell out, just unlucky for them. Steelers with Bell and Brown are a different beast. Hawks without the SB hangover, Russ contract stuff, Kam holdout, Cary Williams pick up, early line struggles and many key injuries on offense including Graham, Lynch, Rawls, PRich, Okung and Lockette. It wasn't meant to be this year but that aside we're still the most talented team in football.

I really like our chances. Improve the O-line a bit, add some interior pass rush and don't lose too many key players at other positions and we'll be the big favorites for the 2016 season.

They also dont get to play the AFC South, NFC East to go along with their horrible NFC South division. They get the privelage of playing the NFC and AFC West which feature 4 playoff teams from this year in the Broncos, Chiefs, Seahawks and Cards. They have to play @Seattle and @Denver this upcoming year too.

To the original post..how the hell are the cowboys on that list...are you kidding me? That is the only team that should def not be on that list.

The vikings were mentioned above and I think they are here to stay in the NFC. That defense is young and only going to get even better next year, even though they were near league tops this year. Rhodes and Waynes are going to be a very good pair of CBs. The only thing they are missing on that defense is a safety opposite Harrison Smith. Just a thought but if they got Kam to pair with Smith and Kam could play at a high level that defense would be maybe the best in the NFC, or at the very least as good as Seattle and Carolina. That spot is a glaring weakness in an otherwise very good defense

Don't know why but I read that as Arizona not Carolina. Either way, the 1st place schedule means a lot less in todays NFL than it used to. There is no doubt the Panthers had full benefits of an easy schedule this year. That is part of having a season that good. New England had the same schedule as far as division, NFC East and AFC South, and they too took full advantage. They just happen to be in a division that was a slight bit better than the NFC South.
