And I've said it every week a seahawks offense that has a pass / rush ratio like we do now is a broken offense.

Not exactly a tell all revelation. Some teams do what they have to and some do what they do best. Others do what they need to.

LOL wut?

Balanced teams are successful teams.

We had the lead against the Rams, but still didn't run the ball.

Seahawks play from behind - lately almost always. Therefore they throw. Same with Wash only they are worse.
Dallas feasts on their passing game.
KC feasts on their passing game.
SF - McCaffery, nough said.
Ravens - pretty good running QB so even pass plays may turn into running plays. And they ARE a running team.
Teams with a late lead run. That's football 101.

They've been in closer games than you think and the Ravens in particular are a run based team. Always have been, even through the best Flacco years.

I'm sure the Ravens are a run based team since they have the most mobile QB in the league. Flacco had a historical, shutdown defense. Seattle has neither of these.

My point is running the ball more probably won't help the Seahawks and isn't the clear magic answer. A lot of those attempts are passing out of necessity.

Running the ball less predictably and with more commitment absolutely cannot hurt and would for certain help. Is it a magic bullet agaisnt an OC who is really just a passing game assistant in disguise? No. But it's absolutley one of the failures of an offense that hasn't scored a TD in 7 qtrs.

Except they have abandoned the run when playing with a lead. Look at the Rams game, 14 passes to 4 runs in the 2nd half with the lead

Go and look at the play-by-play drive charts. You'll notice that on the successful drives (and good quarters/halves) there is lots of running plays called. On the unsuccessful drives there is little to none.

My eyeballs already told me this but looking at it condensed like that confirmed the shit out of it.

Agreed.
I did notice that it seems when they abandon the run for any period of time they don't seem to be able to get it's recent success back. Maybe they feel like the run was successful enough that the passing game surely should be open by now. That is quickly followed by predictability. This has been going on with this team for quite some time now.

Statistics are fun but you can't use them in stand alone comparisons. Comparing what the Hawks have done in play calling balance to what other teams do doesn't tell the story. Every game is different in producing what impacts those statistics listed in the OP. I was merely pointing that out.

So abandoning the run vs the Rams was out of necessity? Waldron abandons the run if the RB doesn't get 4+ ypc. And he abandons it early in games.

Not just 4 yards per carry. It seems he wants 4 yards every carry.

Get a 1 yard carry even if you're averaging 5ypc? "Screw that. Run game's not working. PASS, PASS, PASS!".

Right and Pete preaches balance and running the ball but somehow we are just abandoning it

Mark Schlereth knows how important the run game is. He makes some interesting points about the run game taking it's to ll on the DL.

Hour 2: Mark Schlereth on the changing landscape of the NFL

Bob and Dave are joined by Mark Schlereth to discuss what has changes in the NFL in recent years, including how the players study football and how coaches lead their teams, they answer your biggest questions about the Seahawks offensive line struggles in Roll the Tape, and they look at what the Seahawks offense will have to do to get past the 49ers defense on Thanksgiving night.
