While it is true that the Hawks have the best Defense in the NFL.....those stats will just make those who have to come to Seattle all the more intense. The 12th Man might be the difference this year once again.

Highly impressive. 3 seasons in a row is pretty indisputable. One of the greatest defenses in the history of the league without question. We waited a long time for this, fellas.

How do the Hawks rank in scoring?

A good ground game will eat up the clock and make scoring a lot of points difficult.

I started really questioning DVOA when it had the Hawks rated so highly earlier in the year, despite it failing the eye test to most observers.

Your mention about Bevel makes me laugh..what would those rankings be without Wilsons 1900 rushing yards and 11 TD...my guess..not nearly as impressive.

The Steel Curtain. The Purple People Eaters. The Legion of Boom.

Hard to imagine my beloved Seattle Seahawks are in such magnificent company, with a Super Bowl title thrown in to boot! Even harder to imagine, we're young, we're together for at least a few years, and we're poised to defend our title by winning another one. Surreal times, my friends.

Adjusted for points due to the defense / special teams?

DVOA is not based upon what the defense or special teams do. It's way more complicated than that. Defense and special teams get their own DVOA ratings. DVOA stands for Defense-adjusted Value Over Average and it's a very intricate formula that doesn't count all yardage gained equally. If a RB gains 6 yds vs an average rush defense on 3rd and 12 it obviously isn't worth as much as if a RB gains 2yds vs the #1 rush defense on 3rd and 2. According to DVOA, the latter RB was way more successful than the former.

It's too bad having a QB and OC that compliment each other is such an impossibility, otherwise we may be a top 10 offense and perennial Super Bowl contender...

Oh. We are? Shit. Boy do I feel sheepish.

As much as all of us are trying to appreciate and enjoy the current success of the Hawks, I have a feeling we wont be abke to truly truly appreciate it until the success is gone.

How many of us are used to the LOB dominating? How many of us have gotten used to our awesome defensive line? Our LBs that seem to almost always he in the right spot to make a play?

No matter how much we try to appreciate these guys, I dont think it will 100% sink in until we experience the dissapointment of a 6-10 season.
