I like to call 1986 the season that could have been. The 'hawks somehow got into a funk after the first few games that cost them 6 loses. When they snapped out of that, they couldn't be stopped by anyone. What did stop them is the 10-6 record at season's end.

Anyway, Sabol and NFL films did their usual, awesome work with this video of that season.

That year was such a bummer. We were 5-6 and ended up 10-6. We beat the Giants and Denver that year both SB teams. Freaking Boomer and the Bengals went instead also at 10-6. We were so re hot at the end.

Thanks for this -- brought back a lot of fond memories.

An amazing year for Curt Warner -- 1481 yds rushing, 342 yds receiving.

Did not know the '86 Seahawks finished that strong ,or that they beat both SB teams that year.

What were the strengths and weaknesses of that '86 Hawks team?

Super hot one game and super terrible the next

That was gonna be really tough to beat the Giants in the Super Bowl then.

'86 Giants defense was one of the all time best....top 5 I'd say. LT won MVP of the NFL that year, the 2nd defensive player to do so all time.

They handled their NFC playoff opponents handily.

I think the Hawks play a good Bowl against the Giants, better than Denver did maybe. But I don't think the '86 Seahawks could have won the SB in an NFC dominant decade.
