If he can play with this kind of effort in the run game, it will make him even more dangerous in the pass game. Here's Hoping.

Yes, he can block sometimes, but it is such a horrible waste of resources and energy. If he has to block, at least allow him to block smaller defensive backs at Split End. To their credit, they are lining him up outside on many run plays; they just aren't passing out of that formation.

If he put this kind of effort more consistently into his blocking, he would be considered to be on Gronks level, maybe better.

Matthews looked good on that play as well.

He was also lucky to be blocking Wes Horton, one of Carolina's weakest defensive linemen at the point of attack, who was actually released before Jared Allen's injury. Allen would have bent Graham over backwards with that technique.

Who cares, they finally used him the way they need to on Sunday! The guy is an elite pass catcher and was the only bright spot on Sunday. That was a damn good block though and I don't care who it was against.

Two things:

1. If Britt locks up Thomas Davis (who ends up making the tackle) we get a first down and maybe win the game.

2. Ummmm, Tukuafu.........what are you doing here?

In Super Bowl XL that would have been called as holding.

Love to see that effort from Jimmy, though.

That's the fun thing about football, how individual matchups can screw up everything.

Good call on Britt, but his initial problem was that he was supposed to combo/double team the DT there with Okung. Britt barely brushes him on the way to trying to get Davis. Britt actually gets a pretty good block on Davis, if the play goes where it's designed. Once Rawls bounces it outside (which he should've), Britt has to disengage Davis or it's an easy and cheap holding call. Okung can't get all the way across the face of the DT to seal that block (not sure who could've in that position), so he fills the hole and causes Rawls to bounce it.

Not sure what Tukuafu is doing either, but it's obvious that the Mike was his target and the Mike flowed down the line and just got himself caught up in the trash. Kuechly is going his usual, which is: if there isn't a obvious hole to filll, he just flows with the play and bumps into people, then peels off and makes a tackle 7 yards down field. But hey, he's AWESOME at making those tackles for a 6-8 yard gain.

To me this is a testament to Tom Cable. Jimmy has been much better and will be a force in this offense if Russell can be an efficient passer.

Britt is just awful.

Looks like the run was suppose to go right up the 1 gap, between Britt and <insert center name here>

Britt doesn't help out Okung with the DT, Okung can't get around the DT to seal him out and the guy closes the hole. AND while Okung is getting pushed into the whole they bump Tukuafu who goes flying out of the picture instead of clearing a path. Rawks has no choice but to bounce it to the outside.

Then again Britt's guy easily gets off the block and makes the tackle anyway.

Britt may lose his starting job to Sikoli or Glowinski. He is probably on thin ice.

Picture a play action where marshawn doesn't get the ball, Russ keeps it, rolls slightly to the strong side, and rifles a hot one 8yrds to graham in a crossing. Do that 5 times over the next 5 games, and the ghost defender like ealy are negated.

Our oline cant push out so the ghost defender doesn't have to crash down to center if lynch gets the ball. Having another threat now opens the play action again.

If you really want an 11MM pass blocker then pay me. Otherwise start having the 5-10 yard check down for Russell when crowd favorites like ADB refuse to get open under a 17 Mississippi count when other teams find a way to get open after a three step drop back.

He's not a blocker and shouldn't run the risk of a clip injury because other tight ends block and catch.

#91 is actually Ryan Delaire, an UDFA rookie from Towson who was cut by the Redskins and Bucs. Horton started due to being better in the run game than Delaire but that's not him. Delaire is a situational pass rusher at this point.

Congrats on the win. You have been a classy poster and Kam really showed some leadership.. Panthers have a chance at a bye this year.

Thank you! No reason to not be classy to a fellow football fanatic/American/human being/whatever, especially in his house. No doubt there will be more head to head match ups and while I'd prefer not, another may even come in January.

Rawls had one carry Sunday, it came in the 2nd quarter.

That would have been one hell of a first down to seal the game ;)

Alright, even worse. Thanks for the info.
