The 14-year NFL veteran was named coach of Brophy College Preparatory, a Jesuit high school in Phoenix, the school announced Thursday. Kitna will also teach math and P.E.
Kitna took over as Lincoln’s coach after retiring from the Dallas Cowboys. In three seasons with the Abes, he was 25-7 and led them to two 3A Narrows League titles and a state tournament appearance. He took the job in Texas in 2015 where he turned around a struggling program. He was 20-13 at Waxahachie High.
Brophy, a school that has produced four NFL players, will be hoping for a similar turnaround. The Brophy Broncos were 1-9 last season. Kitna replaces Scooter Molander, who resigned in November after 13 years.
