Yes, but his play calling in the 2nd half didn’t help. I don’t think he sees the big picture. He left way too much time for the patriots to come back and yah the defense should have stopped the patriots, but they probably got gassed because the offense abandoned the run. Kinda like today in the 3rd quarter. Edit: I do remember thinking after some pass calls as to why they didn’t run to burn clock and/or have them use time outs

As for the previous loss against the chiefs, their final drive… if my memory is correct he had the correct call for a Td but they didn’t connect. However, that was not the correct time to go for it, they shoulda used more time. Even if they score on that play, with how Kc was doing against SF’s D, was still too much time on the clock where I see KC still winning. So yea I’ll stick to Kyle as the guy who won’t get you over that final hump.

Plenty people talk about Quinn in Atlanta. Many here didn’t want him back because of what he did there.

Hell I have plenty of gripes about PC, more said in years past verbally than on here. PC cost us a 2nd (me I’m gonna blame that on Russell and the OC, to this day I still don’t know why it wasn’t a play action bootleg) but at least he got one, so idk why you would bring that up unless you just need to help yourself feel better about your loss today.
This is what I thought about that SB. The second half play calling on offense lost that game. Sure the D should've been able to at least stop them once or twice, but you can look at the clock management and see a total lack of awareness. I went back to see what kind of time the O wasted and found that if the Falcons had just kneeled every play and used the entire play clock then the Pats would've run out of time before the tying FG.

He’s won lots of big games including two weeks ago. Loss sucks but Shanahan was not the problem. Just a better chiefs team
Seriously the Chiefs were noticeably a weaker team and basically sleepwalked through the entire regular season and the first half of the Superbowl

Are you really going to complain about holding? BOTH teams were getting away with it ALL GAME LONG.

Niners played an incredible game and should have won. But Shanahan peed down his leg, yet again. Also, two turnovers and the Niners didn't pounce. They abandoned the run, dumb. They didn't defer in OT, dumb. Also, Purdy missed TWO sure TD's on long passes. He wasn't horrible, but he looked average. Niners defense is next level, esp. that D Line.

Bro.....READ IT AGAIN. I already said it wasn't an excuse.

I honestly thought you guys were gonna' win all the way up when it got to OT. Just didn't pounce on KC mistakes.

Seahawks fans: "49ers fans are intolerable!"

Seahawks fans: *acts the exact same ways 49ers fans do when Seahawks fans think they're intolerable*

Tribalism is the best.

Well..the consolation prize for SF , is that they still have 3 teams in their division to beat the piss out of next season . :)

Sometimes I wonder if they just lull teams into playing down so
they can pounce at the right moment.
It's just weird watching them these last couple of years.. They shouldn't
be that good but somehow are.

I think the Niners have been the best team in the league the last few years. Studs at every position it seems, and well-coached. Despite Deebo being injured, and losing Hufanga, Greenlaw, you all still should have won. I think not using CMC in the 3rd quarter hurt.

Purdy got put in his place. Proved to be good not great. Still a young career but what a difference greatness is. Shanahan didn't help his QB, Purdy didn't bail him out. Next time you defer the OT kickoff. Make them punt on 4th and 1 in their own side of the field.

Niners have a real good chance of being back next year with a more experienced Purdy and the same core. Hard to argue the best two teams played on Sunday.
