Actually, Drew Brees ........He was a second round pick. his rookie year, he couldnt beat out Doug Flutie. Year 2, he started, but threw for 17 TDs and 16Ints and just over 3000 yards for a team that finished at .500. year 3, he was replaced again by Flutie.

Not Drew's fault.

Exactly. I’ve said it ten times and going for eleven- last year Mahomes would have been 1 and done in the playoffs with this defense. To get the division back and to even think about a nfc championship game again, it starts and ends with this defense.

I've heard nothing different from friends and family who are Washington fans... and its more than 'a few'.

The consensus take was that the incompetence of the staff and FO was stunting / ruining Howell's potential, and that in a different situation, he'd be a star. That was in the thick of things last year whrn the team was in a slow death spiral.

Howell was one of the very few bright spots on that team and without his heroics, they would have been worse.

Ultimately however, the dude fell victim to a hapless organization, a coach who was 5 years beyond his expiration date, and an OC who'd lost his group even before the season started and deployed lopsided, pass heavy schemes, game in and game out, that were doomed to fail.

Howell was one of the very few bright spots on that team and without his heroics, they would have been worse.

In consideration of this and a lot of other similar info I've been hearing, I don't think anyone can confidently say it isn't possible the Seahawks may have scored a major coup d'etat in acquiring Howell. Will be very interesting to watch and see what he can do in a completely different situation from last season.

I live in the area where people are Raven, Redskin and Panther fans it was known that the fans and front office was 50/50 if they would keep Howell and build around him or start over and draft a QB and a popular belief the owner wanted a shiny new toy in a new QB

My best friend is a skins fan and I watched alot of redskins games.(I still call them redskins, fight me) this guy is legit and I was pissed when yall snagged him in a trade. That team was dysfunctional last year and put him in a bad spot, they made a huge mistake in letting him go.

Most of the true fans still consider them the Skins. If the new owner ship wanted to win back the fan base they would change the name back but I doubt he has the guts to do it

One thing I have to say about Wadhington fans ........ I went to a Hawks game there a while back and they were the coolest people. Nothing like the degenerates in Philly, Cleveland, or NY . And now I may have to thank their team for the possibly good QB

If I was a GM and was keeping Howell I would’ve stayed at 2 and chosen Joe Alt or traded back for picks staying in the top 8 and selecting a WR

It's pretty wild. If Howell is above average as a starter and WASH had someone willing to trade-up and give future picks to get pick #2, they could have repeated the Lion's turnaround.

I was opposed to the name change. But if they're going to change the name, at least make it a good one, and IMO there's only one name that's both cool sounding and fitting for the region:

The Washington Scandals.
