I was about to send you a private message before the game yesterday asking "why all the Jorge hate?" It's a long season, but I hope he keeps it up.
I don't hate Polanco. I just hate how poorly he's played since he's been a Mariner and how year after year the M's keep acquiring these types of players that are older,
used to be good, and often times have an extensive history of missing a lot of time due to injuries. Polanco, Garver, Haniger, Wong, Pollack, Frazier, Winker, Upton, etc., and that's just in the past 3 years, and we're probably going to be adding Solano and Tellez to that list in the next few months. The only guys that actually ended up being good acquisitions and productive players for the M's (Teo and Geno) got kicked to the curb. Yeah, they struck out a lot, but they were also the most productive players on the team not named Julio in 2023. It's just gotten really frustrating watching the M's do this same crap every off season for the past several years.
Believe it or not, I used to be one of the most positive and optimistic M's fans on this board. I've had countless arguments here where I was the one defending the team, the GM, the manager, and the players. But I just can't do it anymore. Quite frankly, the "haters" are right. This team doesn't care about winning. They only care about money and profits, and making sure the team is
juuust good enough to keep fans interested. I
want to believe in this team like I used to, but I just don't anymore. It's a bummer man, (and has admittedly made me pretty bitter and pessimistic regarding the M's in general).
