His offense absolutely 100% shows significant evolution. We shouldn't really judge prospective offensive coordinators by their record as head coach at a single school that hasn't been setting the NCAA ablaze at any point in the past 30 years.
We should judge those guys on scheme, adaptability, evolution, ingenuity, and playcalling aptitude.
But the things that you say we should be judging him on, ie scheme adaptability, evolution, ingenuity, et al, he hasn't demonstrated any kind of success at, either recently at UCLA or during his days in the NFL. What you're basically telling me is if a coach can demonstrate on a grease board that he has those traits that we should hire him.
I'm also wondering how successful he'll be at grooming our QBOTF. He hasn't done much in that category, either.
