I got a good laugh out of that, but then got curious and found this story. What he did, and when, makes sense to me now.

As someone who deals with chronic pain, there's so much you want to do, but your body won't let you. So despite the desire to prove you can still do something, one day the pain reminds you what you're doing to your body, and you just have to walk away.

The timing isn't always convenient, but that doesn't matter. That dread, kind of like the dread of throwing up, helps you make the correct decision.
