Nah, you can do both. Nothing funnier than being told that if you go to a game, that means you're not pissed at ownership.
Not going to the game doesn't make someone more of a fan than those who don't. And vice versa.
I think you'd be surprised how many people are plenty pissed off at this ownership. Don't go to games if you don't want to. But to assume that those who do are content is just plain silly.
I still disagree by my experience. I've never done this before, but if you made a pie chart of the Mariner fan base, and you broke the fan base down and grouped them into various *types* of fans, the ones you're talking about would, in my estimation, be a minority slice of that pie.
The biggest slice of that pie, perhaps a majority slice, would be comprised of fair weather fans, bandwagon fans, fans who like the team but know little of the inner-workings of the franchise, or why exactly the team isn't performing as well as they would like.
When the Mariners began really sucking some years ago, and continued to suck for over a decade, this majority slice of the pie of fans simply shrugged and slinked off to do other things than attend or watch the games. We live in the great northwest. It's summer. There's lots of other things to do around here rather than watching an unexciting team.
Don't equate the hardcore fan, or even the more knowledgeable fan with the majority. They're not here on some messageboard complaining about the team and breaking down their disappointment. The majority of fans don't know much of anything at all about ownership, who the coaches are beneath the manager, how strong or weak the farm system is, what the payroll of the team is relative to other teams, and the like.
