DC Redtails. It is the way. Also, no matter what, change the city designation from Washington to DC. Less confusion, plus adds flair.
If I were to go with a personal favorite for an outside-the-box name, how about the Filibusters? Busters is a good nickname (until the draft... but every name can be twisted into a horrible nickname.) plus it ties into the area.
If they were thinking of going with Warriors, I'd go with Warlords instead for originality.
