Not a fan at all at #35, especially not giving up a third-rounder for him.
Personally, I'm going to give Mike and John the benefit of the doubt... and wait to see how Mike plans to use him in the regular season. Just ignore the preseason as far as Emmanwori is concerned. Preseason defense will be vanilla... especially for how Emmanwori will be used.

When your looking at top of the second there probably 5 guys we liked. Maybe Kyle Hamilton at wr was one. I had nick in the first round. This was a great move as the talent shelf shifted.

No fan base loves the safety position more than the Seahawks. No team loves freak athletes more than the Seahawks. He was value at the Draft position and the Seahawks paid the right price for the pick. Sometimes the stars just align.

The measurables are there.
There are several sources that say he doesn't always "bring it".
Can MM cure that?

Wow JS mentioned they considered moving back into the 1st and getting him. How he was a priority and would have felt bad if they didn’t get him. He looks at it as they got two first round guys.

You don’t like 1st round value at 35?

Noted

I still think he will work out as an effective NFL player, and hope he does, but let's not ignore the facts to pretend this is a bargain like "first-round talent at second-round prices," because both parts of that are incorrect.
All 32 NFL teams showed us clearly that they had determined that Emmanwori did not have first-round value by, y'know, not picking him in the first round. And the Seahawks gave up more than just a second-round pick to get Emmanwori, so "at second-round prices" isn't the case here either.

This looks like a second-round player taken with first-round draft capital. Not the end of the world, but not the bargain "1st round (sic) value at 35" incorrectly suggests.

They won the trade value based on the draft chart genius

If you built a safety in a lab, you’d probably get something close to Nick Emmanwori. The South Carolina enforcer boasts an elite RAS of 10.00, posting absurd testing numbers: a 4.38 forty, 43” vert, and 11’6” broad jump, all at a chiseled 220 pounds. That’s not just athletic — that’s freaky. A three-year starter, Emmanwori made an immediate impact as a Freshman All-American and backed it up with 244 tackles, 6 INTs, and 6 PBUs in 35 career games. His game thrives in chaos: flying downhill from the box, blasting through contact like a heat-seeking missile, and using his vines-for-arms (32.5” length) to suffocate passing lanes. He’s capable of matching tight ends stride-for-stride and folding ball carriers in the alley like laundry. However, it’s not all sunshine and pick-sixes. Emmanwori’s tape flashes brilliance — but also the occasional snooze. He can drift when he’s not first to the action, and his angles from deep alignment remain inconsistent. No agility scores on record leave a slight mystery in man coverage stickiness. Still, you don’t find many 6’3 safeties with linebacker size and receiver movement. With proper coaching and a tap into his urgency dial, Emmanwori has Pro Bowl upside and scheme-versatile utility.

I posted this on a different thread, but I think that it rightfully belongs here as well...

Defensively, Emmanwori is going to a secondary that is stacked and the strength of this team. And there is no pressure for him to play right away which is ideal for his development. But in certain packages you can have Emmanwori out there to refine his skills and to develop a feel for the game by lettting him run havoc on the back end with Love, Bryant and Spoon.
I'm guessing that Mac will introduce Emmanwori to his defense in a similar manner as he did Kyle Hamilton... and likely in a similar role to how Hamilton was used.

As a rookie in 2022, Hamilton played in all 16 games... starting 4 of those. He played roughly half (53%) of the Ravens defensive snaps... and he also played almost all (70%) of his team's special teams snaps. On defense, he had 0 INTs, 5 Passes Defended, a Forced Fumble, 2 Sacks, 4 Tackles for Loss and 5 QB Hits... a productive rookie year for a Safety.

In 2023, he played and started 15 of the Ravens games. His defensive snaps ballooned to 91% (a MAJOR uptick)... and his Special Teams snaps were curtailed to 16%. His defensive stats improved to 4 INTs (one Pick6), 1 Forced Fumble, 13 Passes Defended, 3 Sacks, 10 Tackles for Loss, and 4 QB Hits... earning him First Team All Pro and Pro Bowl accolades.

Now, it's not fair to put Kyle Hamilton's accomplishments up as a standard for judging Emmanwori's development, but it is fun to speculate how Mike will likely use Emmanwori and get a glimpse of what he might accomplish as a chess piece in Mike's D.
