I sat here bitching our offense had no exciting players, no superstars.....
Well he's THAT guy. He'll be used situationally, being put into positions to make big plays. Lots of redzone stuff. And who knows, in 2-3 years maybe he figures out being a full-time passer.
Bottom line : he's got superstar potential without even being our QB1

Unless he's going to catch passes from Darnold, I'm not seeing him basically replace Sam when they reach the redzone.

Milroe needs work as a passer but the traits are off the chart for a 3rd rounder. He can develop into the best in this draft, or a wasted pick. People complain he never takes a shot and he did on probably the highest upside you’ll see in a while. He’s not coming in to start year one or two. The coaches feel they can work with him while still getting him on the field year one

Maybe Milroe at the goalline, but not the red zone. You need to be able to make good decisions down there.

BTW, the Raiders just used another two picks on players to protect Geno.

It's interesting. I think he is used as a weapon next year. Taysum Hill type role who can throw a deep ball while he learns behind Darnold. A RB who can play QB. For the 3rd round it's fine whether he becomes a starting qb or not. Best case he develops behind the scenes as a passer and becomes QBOTF

Darnold getting shopped? </sarcasm>

This is a major risk/reward move. IF, really big IF, he's coachable and they can fix his decisioning & footwork, he becomes the scariest QB from the 2025 draft.

He'll have opportunities to showcase his incredible skills in various sets. Don't love/hate the pick yet. Need to see how he's used and can develop.

I will admit I am experiencing some schadenfreude watching a usually rational individual melt the **** down
"Usually rational"? You've gotta be thinking of someone else lol.

I'm sure I'll be fine later, just annoyed. I got subjected to so much Bama football this year, and he looked consistently awful.

I don't even see "upside". Sure, upside as an athlete; he has physical traits out the wazoo, but QBs need to be able to throw. He makes so many stupid decisions. You need a pretty ridiculous system around you to make it work with what he lacks, and I'm not convinced it's easily teachable.

Said this in the Draft thread and I'll say it here :

Nice "vote of confidence" for Sam Darnold, JS.

I guess Milroe is insurance in case Sam doesn't work out.

meh. whatever.
3rd round developmental QB is a "no confidence' message to Darnald? Play.

I’ll be honest I was hoping for the center but who the fek knows - maybe JS had visions of Matt Flynn and RW3 and went at it again
