He could really see a significant set of plays 20% 25% 30%, like I said pre-draft, should the right team draft him he'll be a phenom, we were the perfect team to draft him, he's made for Kubiak.

A lot of people are going to crap on him.

I think we need to revisit this in about 2 seasons.

He needs to fix his mechanics to tie his arm with his body.

He has ok progressions and reads. He needs to fix the mechanics.
Which is exactly the number of seasons before we know for sure where we are with Darnold, whether he proved he can be the QB1 for us going forward or not.

And that, at the same time, we would know where Milroe is at in his development.

For the people who hate the pick have no vision and need to learn to think outside the box. Milroe has the most upside of any of the QBs being drafted. Running ability is off the charts and throws the nicest deep ball of any of the college QBs this is coming from somebody that HATED him at the Senior Bowl. Milroe must have gotten him a coach afterward he looked a lot better at the combine and his pro day throwing he looks the worst throwing short and medium range passes which can be corrected with better foot work mechanics

I compare him to Josh Allen when he got drafted who was all over the place mechanics wise only competing 50% of passes ( Milroe completed 65%). My comp is Josh Allen meets Kordell Stewart. I do expect to see Milroe being used as a weapon bringing him along as the 3rd string I wouldn’t be surprised if the Seahawks hire
Milroe a private tutor/coach to give him speacialized coaching

Floor will be a weapon for at least 4 yrs
Ceiling will be the QBOTF that everybody has been screaming for

Just a reminder Mahomes didn’t see the field for a year and Allen took 2 seasons before he got his shit together the process will take time be patient

Go watch some highlights if you haven’t already. I don’t know how you can’t like this pick.

The guy is special. Needs work sure - but sweet Jesus - talk about elite athleticism.

We want this guy on the field in one manner or another.

I think it's a really cool and interesting pick.

He's a 2 year starter - change in coaching staff and offensive style makes it hard to understand where his ceiling lies.

If you look at Wilsons NC State college career it was good if not spectacular, it was really his year at Wisconsin that propelled him to the 3rd round and showed he was ready to start. Milroe incidentally is a year younger than Wilson was when he was drafted so there's no reason to think he couldn't develop.

If you compare him to someone like say Kaepernick, I think there are probably similarities there but Milroe is significantly more athletic (4.40 40 vs 4.63 for Kaepernick). With a year or 2 behind a pure pocket passer like Darnold gives him an opportunity to work on the part of QBing that is teachable.

And in terms of what we gave up for him, I look at it as a straight swap - Geno for Milroe, a 34 year old QB who has probably already reached his ceiling (though I do like Geno, and the Raiders are tooled up with offensive weapons so there is still a little bit of room for growth), vs a guy with huge upside potential - isn't that what everybody wanted? Oh and he will cost 1.5m per year instead of 37.5m

Having to learn a new system, playing for a new coach, who just hired a new OC and who likely wanted him to call plays like his old OC is a recipe for disaster.
Play callers attempt to call plays in a sequence that sets up later plays for success. But I'd wager that there was no sequencing whatsoever, and the plays called were probably confusing.

I'd judge Jalen more on his play prior to 2024

not to nitpick but Kaep was a 4.53. still much slower than Miroe, but he could move and when he got to full sprint he ran like a gazelle

I love it, huge upside pick. In the third I have no problem swinging for the fences.
I might agree with take if the OLine shows significant improvement next season AND Milrose shows promise. If not then this pick may come back to haunt JS.

I mean...I get some are excited (as they should be) but please don't go comparing a 7th round pick like Matt Flynn to a Top #3 overall pick like Darnold who has more talent in his pinky than Flynn has in his entire body....

Good lord...

As far as Jalen being compared to Russ?

I'd argue he's better right now and not equal (he just needs to marinate a bit) from a raw talent perspective.

Completely agree!

And side note, in this video: That 17 year old true freshman Ryan Williams looks like a future superstar. Holy smokes he made a ton of amazing plays with Milroe

I like the pick, simply because we've not drafted solid developmental QBs for quite a while. Schneider's old team (the packers) used to draft a developmental QB nearly every year. Guys like Matt Hasselbeck and Mark Brunell were developmental picks that turned into quality starters.

I don't mind grabbing a guy that doesn't need to have high expectations placed on him his first couple of years. The NFL fails at this too often and relies tooo much on boom-or-bust first rounders.
