The 2025 NFL draft is in 2 weeks from today. This is a simple yes or no poll.

My answer would be equivalent to the saying below ….

If a tree falls in the forest, but there’s no one there to hear it, does it actually make a sound?

I believe they will. Many may not agree, but i think Sam has a higher ceiling than Geno. I think the DK loss will be felt, but I think I would hope for more consistency from a WR compared to huge play capabilities. I think this d will be top 5 though.

Top 5 defense this year. Oline will improve from the worst to about 20th or so. Darnold will outperform Geno. They are going to draft a WR high that will make an impact, Egbuka or Noel.

Does this equal the playoffs “this year”?

As a fan I certainly hope so.

The lower tier analyst in me says “not so fast”, still a lot of variables undetermined

They don't have enough players signed yet, wait till after the draft and F.A. at least we should have a full roster of players by then.
That's a reasonable viewpoint.

Even though I voted "yes", you are correct.

Hopefully the team will be more fleshed out and we will truly see what the team is and how much their actual chances are.

Gotta remember that they're all learning (offensively) a new system now so if it actually works, then they're in good shape. :)

At the end of last season I was solidly Yes on this but after blowing out half our offense and (so far) not improving the weak link on offense (OL) I’m out until at least we draft some line talent or we get to see these guys on the field.

In a lofty place tanglin' with Satan over history.

I voted NO, but it's only because I just don't have any idea what our offense will look like. I fully agree with your stance on the defense.

I am expecting the defense to be top 5. They finished the year at #10 they will be better in 2025
I heard yesterday on the NFL channel on XM that we finished 14 overall on defense. Either way, I think they will definitely be in the top 10. I also think they will draft a WR to be the #2, putting Kupp in the #3 spot to be the guy who lines up in lots of different spots to take advantage of defensive alignments. If they can turn the OL into even an average unit, through the draft or otherwise, they will be in a great spot to win the division. That's why I voted YES . I dont see the NFC championship game this season, but it will be a good step towards that going forward.

I think Sam Darnold will be better and more consistent that Geno. K9 has a reason to be his best, and Charbs should also be better this year. Heck, Kenny Mac was improved last season.

The defense will be better. It may not start out hot, but we know MikeMac will put his guys in position to dominate down the stretch.
