My wife, who doesn't watch a lot of baseball these days, has been immensely entertained by the rotund Rowdy Tellez, especially in the last two games. Whether it's trying unsuccessfullly to stretch a double into a triple, or striking out looking on three borderline pitches, or misplaying the low throw in the ninth inning last night. She thinks that if he did a little cardio and lost 20 pounds that he would look better, improve his performance, and maybe have been safe at third.

They bragged souch in the off-season about the acquisition of Austin Shenton. The local kid. Bringing him back to the organization. A LH bat who can play 3B/1B. So what's the deal with him?

Gilbert gets to practice pitching with a lead for a change.

Gives up a solo homer, regrettable but not fatal. When you throw that hard and spend that much time around and in the zone, it happens.

Nobody said EVERYONE does 6+ innings EVERY time. The fact is, the bullpen is missing real guys right now & starters constantly struggling to get thru only FIVE & burning out a mediocre pen isn't winning baseball. Nobody is "whining" about a win. An accurate statement was made about Gilbert with his high pitch count & lowish innings per start so far. The same could be said about Bryce Miller. They don't have the depth to be using the pen four innings every game, remember they've also been burning up the pen in those ridiculous Hancock/Fake Castillo starts.
